Mrs. Clara Weatherford Cowick, age 100 passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 surrounded by members of her family.
Born August 12, 1917 in Darlington County to the late Lonnie E. and Alma Jackson Weatherford. Mrs. Cowick enjoyed cooking, crocheting, planting flowers, and being with her family. She attended the Eastside Baptist Church in McColl and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Cowick is survived by her daughter, Clara Gore of Bennettsville; eight grandchildren, David R. Huckabee, Jr. (Bonnie), Teresa Polston (Bill), Regina Lanthier, John Ritch, Tony Ritch, Tim Ritch (Becky), Sharon Sampson (William), and Sheila Rogers (Ray); and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jefferson Davis Cowick; daughters, Alma Lillian Cowick and Gladys Sue Cowick Freeman; grandchildren, Julie Ritch Bryant; great-grandchildren, Ashley McIntyre, and Miranda Ritch; brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Denny Costner, with burial at Rogers Cemetery in McColl. A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the funeral home.
