Emma Pate Ritch Ward, 79, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her residence surrounded by members of her loving family.
Born December 25, 1938 in Chadbourne, NC, she was a daughter of the late Gewood and Nancy Ann Godbold Pate. She was a homemaker and attended the Bennettsville First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Emma enjoyed gardening, NASCAR, cooking, listening to music (especially gospel and Blue Grass). She also loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Jimmie Rogers of Bennettsville; daughters, Betty Faye Norris (John Henry), Carol Rogers Steen, and Wendy Renea Driggers all of Bennettsville; sisters Cora Lee Carabo (Edward) of Blenheim, Bessie Mae Agee of Eaton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Edgar Jacobs of Bennettsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry Ritch; daughter, Patricia Thompson; brothers, Alton, Walter, Reedy, James Edward, John, W.A., and Fred Pate; and one
sister, Mabel Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Burroughs Funeral Home, with burial at Red Bluff Cemetery in Clio. A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
