Mrs. Lela Branton Taylor passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. She was 68 years old.
Born in Marlboro County on November 26, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Paul Junior and Elise Tyndall Branton. She was employed with the Marlboro County School System as a Teacher’s Aide for many years. She was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church of Bennettsville. She enjoyed flowers and crocheting but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by: her husband William J. Taylor of Bennettsville, SC; daughter, Jennifer Thompson Brigman (Richard) of Darlington, SC; step-sons, Michael Taylor of Blenheim, SC; and Eddie Taylor (Sherry) of Blenheim, SC; brother, Paul Mitchell Branton of Lexington, SC; sisters, Linda Kaye Kirkland (Willie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Shelia Branton Byrd (Mike) of Wagram, NC; Brenda Gail Rimmer of Lyman, SC; grandchildren, Richard Brigman, Jr., Jacquelyn Brigman, Leah Brigman, William E. Taylor, Jr., Jacob Ryan Taylor, Chelsea Taylor, Michael Taylor, Jr., Tyler Pope, and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Tommy Lloyd Thompson, infant sister Paula Carol Branton, and a brother-in-law, Hubert “Hugh” Rimmer.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Second Baptist Church in Bennettsville, with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery in McColl. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church of Bennettsville.
