Mrs. Marilyn Pate Hyatt passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness on April 23, 2017. She was 85 years old.
Born November 25, 1931 in McColl, SC, she was a daughter of the late Bishop and Loretta Cope Pate. She was retired from Oak River Mills where she worked as a machine operator. She was a member of Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene. She loved watching soap operas and old movies. She enjoyed taking trips to the mountains, riding motorcycles with her husband, and talking on the CB radio. She loved dining out and spending time with her family. She also loved attending church when able.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Sue Hailger of Mary Esther, FL; daughter, Donna Taylor Boone (Charles) of McColl,SC; step-son, Morris “Peanut” Killingsworth of Elizabethtown, KY; brothers-in-law, Roy Pruitt (Patricia) of Bennettsville, SC, Danny Hyatt of Bennettsville, SC; sisters-in-law, Brenda Ring (Jim) of Kansas and Gerry Carver of Fayetteville, NC; 5 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; a special cousin, Joann Reynolds of Hartsville, SC; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents listed above; her husband William “Bill” Earl Hyatt; brothers, Bishop Pate, Jr. and John Blue Pate; step-son, William Killingsworth, and nephew Roger Stephen Haigler.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, April 28, 2017, at Burroughs and Cooper Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Jimmy Burks, with burial to follow at Beaverdam Cemetery in McColl, SC. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
