Mr. Martin Luther Driggers, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2017 at his residence.

Born March 20, 1927 in Bennettsville he was a son of the late Martin Luther, Sr. and Dessie Evans Driggers. He graduated from Bennettsville High School and served in the United States Navy. He married Sara Weatherly on December 26, 1951 and they were married for 65 and half years. Mr. Martin had retired from Belk Department Store after 59 and half years. He was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church and was the oldest member of the church. He was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and the church. Mr. Martin was a Past President of the Bennettsville Lions Club and a former member of the Bennettsville Jaycees.

Surviving are his wife of 65 and half years, Sara Weatherly Driggers; sons; Randy Driggers and wife Susan of Greenville, NC, and Kem Driggers of Bennettsville, SC; daughters, Sarah Wagler and husband Rob of Odenton, MD and Frances Ortlip and husband Dan of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Jim Driggers (Tiffany), Jenny Bridgman (Alex), Nathan Wagler, Joshua Ortlip, Matthew Ortlip, Ashley Ortlip and Emma Mount; a great grandchild, Lydian Bridgman; and a special niece, Carolyn Bullard of Conway, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Morris, Paul, and Robert Driggers; sister, Inez Driggers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. in the Church Parlor just prior to the service.
