Mrs. Mattie Lee Pruitt Walters, passed away, Monday, May 22, 2017, at her daughter’s home after a brief illness. She was 81.

Born in Bennettsville on August 16, 1935. She was a daughter of the late Jerry Reese and Ollie Bradley Pruitt. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Victory World Outreach Center. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with her family especially playing with her grandchildren. She treasured being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by; her sons, John Wilson Walters (Teresa) of Bennettsville, Donald Keith Walters (Myra) of Bennettsville; her daughters, Judy Van Kesteren of Bennettsville, Pamela Walters Johnson (Stanley) of Tatum; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special family, Margaret Butler, Tasha Grant, Helen Murchison, Margie Hudgins, Myra Lee, Carrie Gallops, Linda Lack; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, her husband Wilson Woodrow Walters; her son, Woodrow Wyatt Walters; her daughter, Sandra Lee Brewer; her brother, William Simpson Pruitt, her sisters, Sara Francis Bowen and Carrie Mae Hicks.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Carl Freeman with burial to follow in Tatum Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
