Mrs. Johnsie Lorine Hamilton Odom, age 99, devoted wife of the late Henry Joseph Odom, entered into her Heavenly home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, at Willow Place Assisted Living in Laurinburg, NC.
Mrs. Lorine was born in Dillon County, SC, on July 14, 1917, a daughter of the late W.W. Hamilton and Dora Quick Hamilton. She was a graduate of Clio High School, a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clio, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Good Neighbor's Program which met once a month.
She was an excellent cook and the secret behind her delicious meals was cooking in her slow - cooker crock pot. She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, sewing, and one of her favorite pastimes was playing the card game, Crazy Eights. She loved visiting with her neighbors and was well-known for her feisty personality and her ability to get things done. She was “A True Southern Lady”, and she was admired and beloved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Elizabeth Annette Odom Floyd and husband Charles “Dixie” Floyd of Clio and Norma Gail Simpson of Daphne, AL; by four treasured grandchildren, Jeff Calhoun of Daphne, AL, Julie Williams and husband David of NW, Atlanta, GA, Vicki Lynn Celani and husband Chris of Alpharetta, GA, and Mitchell Floyd and wife Dawne of Perdido Key, FL; and by four adorable great- grandchildren, Lindsey Williams of NW, Atlanta, GA, Dylan Calhoun of Daphne, AL, Matt Celani, a Senior at USC-Columbia, Mia Celani, a Sophomore at USC-Columbia, and a precious step-great-granddaughter, Brittany Stevens and wife Victoria of Theodore, AL.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clio officiated by Pastor Emily Davis. The family will greet friends at the church parsonage from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Mrs. Lorine was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; by a brother, W.R. Hamilton and his wife Fleda Hamilton; and by two sisters, Mildred Richardson and Elise Miller.
