Mrs. Margaret Alberta Geisel, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at McLeod Health in Cheraw after an illness. She was married for 58 years to the late John Thomas Geisel.

Born in Greensburg, PA, on June 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Paul Wise and Helen Miller Wise Johnson.

Mrs. Margaret was a faithful wife, devoted mother, housewife, and doting grandmother. Her hobbies included gardening and baking, especially her many varieties of Christmas cookies. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, where she was a former adult Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Ladies Prayer Circle.  She was also a member and past president of the Bennettsville Lion’s Club, the Garden Club, and the Bridge Club. She was a vigorous supporter of many various charity groups.

She is survived by her two devoted sons; Paul Thomas Geisel, Sr. and wife Barbara of Summerville, SC and John W. Geisel and wife Janet of Harrisburg, PA; six grandchildren, Jeanne Geisel, Jack Geisel, Christi Geisel, Jeffrey Geisel, James Geisel and Paul Thomas Geisel, Jr.;  also by 13 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Helen Loring of Simi Valley, CA and Sandy Jones of Monroeville, PA.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Mrs. Geisel was preceded in death by her parents & husband listed above; by a son, Donald Lee Geisel;  by a brother, William Wise and by a half-brother, Robert Johnson; and by one half-sister, Catherine Palmer.
