Roger Daniel LisenbyMarch 3, 1942 ~ August 30, 2017 (age 75)
Roger Daniel Lisenby
Long about 1942, the Good Lord put out a wanted ad: “Needed, one short, fiery, outspoken, passionate, stubborn man to raise three children, turn a swamp into a home, educate a flock of people on love, life, cars, surveying, woodworking, politicking, and Clemson football. He must sometimes listen to a doctor, love home grown vegetables and boiled peanuts, and basically give everyone hell but love them unconditionally.”
Roger answered that call.
Roger grew up in Chesterfield, SC, with his four brothers and his sister. He joined the Air Force, married Candace Ann Bouchard, and raised three children. He was educated at Florence-Darlington Tech where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He turned that degree into a job as a Survey Crew Chief for the South Carolina Department of Transportation for the next thirty years.
Roger leaves behind the writer, his son Gabriel Lisenby (Jessica) of Simpsonville, SC; oldest daughter, Donna Marie Lisenby (Nita) of Boone, NC; and his beloved middle child, Julie Anne Lisenby of Greenville, SC; brothers, Richard Lisenby ( Betty), Andy Lisenby, and Greg Lisenby (Sandra); sister, Sara Rivers; and grandchildren, nine year old Grace and seven year old Elijah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kimble Lisenby, mother, Susannah Nelle Lisenby, and brother, Robert Stephen Lisenby.
Roger Daniel Lisenby passed away at the age of 75, Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from complications from his 5th heart attack. He fought and beat cancer for over 11 years.
He will remain, in the words of his grandson Elijah, “In our good thoughts and good dreams” where he will live forever.
Love ya Daddy.
