Alan Bryan Hood passed away at his home Wednesday, December 25, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old.
Born March 20, 1948 in Dillon, SC, Alan was a son of the late Morris H. and Betty Jean Gaddy Hood. He spent most of his life in Marlboro County and was a retired welder and pipe fitter. Alan was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church and was a certified lay speaker. He was a former Booster Club president for Marlboro County and an avid Marlboro County Bulldog and South Carolina Gamecock fan. He enjoyed cooking and working in his shop. Alan dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; beloved wife, Judy M. Hood; son, Clay Hood; and brothers, Ronnie Hood and Joe Hood.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: son, Samuel Alan Hood (Paula) and Bobby St. Claire (Paula); daughters, Tracy Lynn Hood (Wayne) and Sandy Cole (Ryan); brother, Jason Hood (Kesha); sisters, Jackie Hood Burke (Tommy), Susan D. Hood, Nancy H. Lang; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home, followed by burial at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p. m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
