Mr. Allen Austin Usher passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Dundee Manor after a sudden illness. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Allen was born in Bennettsville on June 12, 1932 to the late Austin and Ruby Creech Usher. He was retired from the Marlboro County Recreation Department, where he worked in beautification. He enjoyed watching old westerns, working outside, driving, farming, eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches, eating fish, going out to eat, spending time with his family, but most importantly, taking care of his wife Lillie.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory: son, Steve Allen Usher, Sr.; daughter, Betty Hale; brothers, Francis (Marie) Usher of N. Charleston, SC, Johnny Usher of Wilmington, NC; sisters, Carolyn Rikard of N. Charleston, SC, Fayne (Bill) Boyer of N. Charleston, SC, Diane (Paul) Laborde of Vestia, Alabama, Jean Dowdy of Bennettsville, SC, and Maxine Reed of Ladson, SC; grandchildren, Kimberly Nichols (Charles), Roger Hale, Kelly Hodge (William), and Steve Usher, Jr.; great grandchildren, Kimberly (Danny) Hicks, Betsy Grooms, Emily Nichols, Charles Nichols, Hannah Nichols, Roger Nichols, Tori Nichols, and Bryson Nichols, Erin Hale, Shane Usher, Jamison Usher, Austin Hodge, Evan Hale, Amber Hodge, Brantley Hodge, Bella Nichols, Kellie Hodge, William Hodge, Jr., great-great grandchildren, Kynslee Hicks, Paisley Hicks, Trinity Jones, and Kaleo Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; his wife of 65 years, Lillie Mae Dew Usher; grandchild, Rhonda Hale; sister, Gracie Greer.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm Friday, January 29, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 5-7 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 551 Dundee Drive, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
