Mr. Chad Everette Powers passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Carolina Health Care in Charlotte, NC after an illness. He was 44 years old.
Chad was born in Florence, SC on September 7, 1976 to Mrs. Alice Faye Powers Freeman. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. He was employed with the City of Bennettsville, where he served as the gas foreman. He served many years as a Reserve Police Officer with McColl and Clio Police Departments, on the McColl Rescue Squad, and was a member of Brightsville and Bennettsville Fire Departments. He was also was a former Chief of the McColl Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory; wife, Sandra Powers; mother, Alice Powers Freeman; fur baby, Tiny Powers; stepdaughters, Tiffany Chavis (Chris) and Sherri Benton (Randy); special brother, Heath Williams; sister, Ashley Powers (Jimmy Strickland); sisters-in-laws, Rita Cardenas (Speedy) and Carla Lewis; grandchildren, Eric, Kaden, Ashton, Tyler, Riley, and Emilie; niece and nephew, Brenley Powers and Ethan Powers; son, Michael Chavis.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Patricia Stubbs; nephew, Brentley Powers; stepfather, Thomas Freeman; brother-in-law, Wayne Wilkes.
A graveside service will be held 3pm, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park. A public viewing will be held from 1-4 pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Burroughs Funeral Home.
