Mrs. Diane Rogers White passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 after an illness. She was 62 years old.
Diane was born in Bennettsville on April 5, 1957 to the late Edward and Barbara Jean Wallace Rogers. She was a member of the Pentecostal Fire-Baptized Church of McColl. She was a retired machine operator with Scotland Container.
Diane was a lifelong animal welfare advocate and supporter of the ASPCA. Her loyal canine friends were two Chihuahua’s named Tinkerbell and Precious, whom she loved very much.
Diane loved to spend time with her family and loved to travel, particularly to the beach, as she enjoyed tanning and was an avid swimmer. She loved taking in the beauty of the mountains as well.
Diane was an excellent cook and loved to prepare dinners for family and friends --- and she was not stingy with her recipes, either. Indeed, any time you praised her cooking, she would immediately corner you and begin reciting her recipe, even if she had given it to you many times before. It was just an automatic response for her. Without fail, she would always begin her recipe rundown with “see, what you do is, you get you a.…” In short, if you mentioned her cooking in a positive light you knew you were in for at least a 10-minute recitation of her recipe. So, if Heaven’s angels need more recipes, she stands ready to give them.
As alluded to above, Diane was a woman who loved to talk, particularly on the phone with friends and family. Both sons have been known to fall asleep on the phone with her, only to wake up 30 minutes later to her talking --- and telling her “I think you told me that story before” did not slow her down a bit. She carried on full steam ahead.
She had a ready smile and any stranger with the time to listen would soon find a friend. She was an open book with many words.
Today, all of her friends and family grieve deeply knowing that she will speak no more words in this world: her recipes and stories will exist only on paper and in the hearts and minds of the loved ones she left behind. However, they are heartened to know that her new residence is a world with kinder souls, better listeners, and no Cancer or pain to speak of --- only happiness.
Diane we will look to the stars and pray for an echo when the silence becomes too much. We love you.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” --- Helen Keller.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; sons, Scott (Jennifer) Williamson of Nashville, TN. And John (Carla) Williamson of Grovetown, GA.; stepsons; Ricky White of McColl, Raymond White, Jr. of McColl, Timothy White of McColl, and Steve (Nadia) White of Supply, NC.; grandchildren; Ricky Williamson, Bradley Odom, Dillon Williamson, Chase Williamson, Fisher Williamson, Langley Williamson, and Ethan Smith; great grandchildren, Hayden Odom and Hunter Odom; sisters, Barbara Ann (O’Dell) Judy of Holly Hill, SC and Debbie Hardin of Rutherfordton, NC; nephews, Dale Judy, Keith Judy, Mark Bryant, and Eddie Bryant; niece, Ashley White.
