DORIS ENGLISH MOORE
Funeral services for Doris English Moore, 97, will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022, at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery immediately following.
Mrs. Moore died Wednesday evening, February 23, 2022, in Columbia, SC at The Palmettos Assisted Living Home where she had been under Caris Hospice Care for some time.
Born July 27, 1924, in Richmond County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Lily Belle Coble and Claude L. English of Marlboro County. She was predeceased by her brother Claude Coble English.
Mrs. Moore retired as curator with the Marlboro County Historical Museum. Upon retirement, the Jennings-Brown House Committee of the Marlboro County Historical Society honored her with a tea and reception on March 25, 1987, where she was presented a framed painting of the Jennings-Brown House.
Mrs. Moore was an active member of the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church for 70 years and the Josephine Rogers Sunday School Class, WMU and Keenagers.
Mrs. Moore was married for 63 years to the late Harvey C. Moore. Surviving are son Harvey Eugene Moore (Mildred) of West Union, SC, a daughter Barbara Moore Coleman (Charles) of Columbia, SC, five grandchildren: Caroline C. Bennett (Zeke), Ashley M. Hart (deceased)(Tommy), Ansley C. Grier (Patrick), Cliff E. Moore (Annette), English C. Crosby(Steve); thirteen great grandchildren: Jay Hart, Caleb Hart, Coleman Bennett, Anna Young Bennett, William Bennett, Newton Grier, Liddy Grier, Drew Crosby, Eliza Crosby, Mae Grier, Emma Laing, Lucas Moore, and Elsie Moore.
Visitation will be in the church parlor from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, preceding the service.
