Mr. James Oxendine, Jr. passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his residence after an illness. He was 79 years old.
Mr. James was born in Laurinburg, NC on December 10, 1940 to the late James and Nancy Locklear Oxendine, Sr. He attended Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene. He was a mechanic for John Deere for 25 plus years, before becoming the Owner/Operator of Oxendine Garage in Clio. He enjoyed dancing, music, telling jokes, loved his sweet's especially chocolate cakes for his birthday. He also enjoyed watching the Young & the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful. Mr. James never meet a stranger, always had a smile and greeted people with a firm handshake especially the young men that dated his daughters.
Mr. James leaves behind to cherish his loving memory; wife, Pearlie Oxendine; son, James Michael Oxendine ( Rachel); daughters, Stella Oxendine, Mary “Libby” Sage, Linda Ledbetter (Reece), Wanda Kay Oxendine, and Tina Oxendine-Maynard (Kevin); brothers, Stacey Oxendine, Terry Oxendine, Tony Oxendine, Tim Oxendine, Floyd Oxendine, and Johnny Oxendine; sisters, Kay Frances Oxendine, Sarah Margaret Matthew (Donald), Dr. Patricia Canada (Randy Jones), Betty Oxendine McDuffie( Jonathan Mark); 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; brothers, Wilson Oxendine, Paul Oxendine, and Ricky Gooden; grandchildren, Brandon Oxendine, Michael Oxendine, and Zachary Ledbetter; cousin, Robert Whitt.
The family will be holding memorial service at 2pm, Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Burroughs Funeral Home. (Due to regulations and limitations set forth by the CDC and the government the memorial service will be for family only. Thank you for your understanding.)
