Kay Frances Oxendine passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at McLeod Health Cheraw. She was 77 years old.
Born October 29, 1943, in Scotland County North Carolina, Kay was a daughter of the late James, Sr. and Nancy Locklear Oxendine. She was a member of Bennettsville First Church of the Nazarene and a retired Lead Inspector with Essex Wire of Bennettsville. Kay enjoyed crocheting and doing seamstress work, dancing, traveling, and baking cakes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents listed above; brothers, Wilson Oxendine, James Oxendine, Jr., Paul Oxendine; foster brother, Ricky Gooden; son-in-law, and Kenneth Wade Richardson.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Richardson of Wallace, SC; brothers, Stacey Oxendine of Clio, SC, Terry, Tony, and Floyd Oxendine all of Bennettsville, SC, Tim Oxendine of Raleigh, NC, and Johnny Oxendine of Clearwater, FL; sisters, Sarah Margaret Matthew (Donald) of Scranton, SC, Dr. Patricia Canada (Randy Jones) of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Betty Oxendine McDuffie (Jonathan Mark) of Marshton, NC; granddaughter, Morgan Nicole Richardson; honorary grandchildren, Jonathan McDuffie, Adam McDuffie, and Terry Kenneth Oxendine.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Burroughs Funeral Home in Bennettsville. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. just prior to the service.
