Margaret Pruitt Douglas Goodwin, 87, of Bennettsville, SC, passed away on Thursday February 24, 2022, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. She passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Bennettsville SC, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Driggers Caulk (Willis), and Charlie Pruitt. In addition to her parents, her grandmother, Lizzie Hersey Driggers held a very important maternal role in her life. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school until her declining health took her to Nursing Home facilities in Florence. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and cooking. She always encouraged her children to get a good education. This was so important to her that she went back to school late in life to obtain her high school diploma! One of her treasured possessions was her Class Ring that she wore with pride. She was a caregiver, having taken care of her mother, grandmother, and first husband J.W. Douglas during their illnesses until they passed on.
Margaret is survived by her 5 children, Dianne Douglas Thompson of Camden, Brenda Douglas Rogers (David) of Blenheim, Betty Douglas Boulter (George) of Ft Mill, Ronnie Douglas (Lisa) of Florence, and Mary Beth Harris of Myrtle Beach; two special cousins, Nancy Driggers Crowley and Robert Earl Driggers; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Amy Douglas McCormick; first husband, J.W. Douglas and second husband, Jennings Goodwin.
