Mrs. Vermell Taylor Odom, widow of Iben Alexander Odom, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at her residence after an illness. She was 88 years old.
Mrs. Vermell was born in Marlboro County, SC on September 4, 1933, to the late Luther Delton and Edith Meggs Taylor. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bennettsville and attended CenterPointe Ministries in Laurinburg, NC. She worked in the textile industry and later was a caregiver to many. She also was a licensed Mission Worker.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory; sons, Alexander Odom (Sandy) of Bennettsville and Charlton Odom of Bennettsville; daughters, Lowall Gibson (Wayne) of Bennettsville, Loris Nichols (Jamie) of Bennettsville, and Marie Sims (Joe) of Sumter; grandchildren, Ronnie, Chasity, Casey, Misty, Johnnie Carol, Zach, Spencer, Luke, and Josh; great grandchildren, Conner, Corey, Celsey, Carmen, Trent, Ashton, Caleb, Warren, Chynah, Henrik, and Zeke James; great-great grandchildren, Iris and Nyrobi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above; 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be held 4pm, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Revs. Wayne Gibson and Thomas Buck. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
